CTO Coach publishes research and tools for first-time and aspiring CTOs: sourced guides and research reports, a free CTO readiness assessment, and a directory of CTO coaching providers.
How much does it cost?
Everything on the site is free.

How the CTO readiness assessment works
What is the CTO Readiness Assessment?
A 22-question self-assessment across five leadership dimensions: Technical Leadership, People Leadership, Business Acumen, Communication, and Self-Management. It takes about 10 minutes and returns a score for each dimension, your strongest areas, and your biggest gaps with suggested next actions.
How is my score calculated?
Your answers are mapped to fixed point values and totalled per dimension. There is no AI model in the scoring, and the same answers always produce the same result.
What data is stored about me?
Nothing is stored on our servers when you take the assessment. Your results are encoded in the address of your results page. If you choose to join the email list, we store your email address and a summary of your result (overall score, level, top strength and top gap) to send the emails. We use consent-based analytics to understand page usage.

Where the figures come from
How do you choose sources?
We prefer primary sources: the original survey, study or dataset rather than a blog that quotes it. Where we cite a statistic we link the page it came from.

Do you offer CTO coaching?
No. The CTO coaching directory lists coaching providers with format and price where they are public.
How should I choose a CTO coach?
Decide what you need first: peer community, one-to-one coaching, mentoring or structured training. The directory groups providers by that model and shows format and price where it is public, and marks it Not public where it is not.
